Dear John

Another movie from the great novel writer Nicholas Sparks.
The story encompasses love from the usual couple's love story and searches deep meaning of it through both lives in how they work with it with their family, friends, and personal dreams.

John (soldier) falls in love with a college student Savannah in their two weeks interaction during Spring break. As both separated, they promised to tell their stories through letters. The movie title derived from their letters started out with "Dear John" with how Savannah writes her letters to him. Only to Know later on, the "Dear John" letter will eventually mean that their relationship will also turn to an end as how a Dear John letter connotes.

The movie started out with John reading out a letter telling about his experience right after he was shot. His reminiscing of coins from his childhood and how it represented him as an army now and the last thing he thought of before blanking out was "you."

Twists and turns happened in between and it was a little heart-breaking and also moving. Both separated and lived separate lives until John was forced to come home for his father and eventually visited Savannah to clear things up between the letter she sent him without any further explanations.

The movie talks about the importance of family members even between differences, helping friends in times of need even to the point of selflessness, and big dreams eventually fade for a dream that can be achieved due to uncontrollable situations.

The movie didn't make me cry but it opened up my eyes to some issues worth pondering on.
