Happy New Year!

Hi, this is my first post for the year!
To start it right, it is helpful to think positive.I don't believe in fortunes and I can't read Chinese characters but it says it will be a fruitful year for me.=)

GOt plan?

Although I wasn't able to finish the Starbucks Christmas tradition of collecting stamps, I still got my 2010 Planner!yey!=)

Every year the planner gets simpler and all three designs :the art of coffee making are in black and white. I chose the 3rd stage which is the brewed coffee already in a cup.
Collecting these planners annually will also help the Spark Hope charity.
Hello 2010!!! I'm ready to plan the year ahead!

Wonderful time of the year

Christmas feeling is very late this year. Everybody seemed so busy or not so interested in decorating Christmas ornaments till it was two weeks before the 25th.

Luckily, I joined a Christmas party and saw this Christmas village decoration at the lobby of VIP Hotel. It looks like Winter Wonderland for me and if I were still a kid, I would fantasize to be here!
Then, this welcomed me in the embassy hall. This reminds me of the Snow dance in the classical ballet of Nutcracker.
This year my mom opted to put up the smaller Christmas tree, and minimal decorations at home. Some people say that as you get older, celebrations are not a big thing to celebrate, or parties become so corny. This year may not have been a grand celebration, but thelechon is still present, a festive way to celebrate the birthday of Jesus.

Taipei 101

My friend told me we were going to the tallest building in the world or the second tallest after that one in Dubai was built, and ride the fastest elevator . I was scared that I might be nauseated from the ride and being in that building would make my knees shaky which always happens when I am in the heights. One good reason that I was okay was because the elevator was really fast!Too fast that I didn't even remember that I was scared at all. I only felt my ears pop but I was so engrossed with this and watching how fast we arrived to the 88th floor.(the time I clicked the cam was on the 86th floor and it was already slowing down.)It was pretty foggy and rainy that night so we weren't able to go out in the viewing deck at the 91st floor.I only have this decent night view photo of the building.

C.K.S. Memorial Hall

The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial is a grand stature and made me just say 'wow' in awe as I stood in front of the great edifice. It showcases the Chinese culture well preserved in the country and their modern architectural design, which mind you, was built in 1980.

The gate features a structure of 5 doors, 6 pillars and eleven stories with a rooftop of blue glazed glass tiles.
This is the memorial hall, the roof takes the shape of ren which means human beings and is a Chinese symbol which expresses the harmony between men and nature.
Inside the memorial are exhibits of arts and memorabilias of the late leader. The design of the ceiling in the main hall is their national emblem.C.K.S. Memorial is well preserved and is one of the higlights of Taiwan

Fashion Bottles

I saw this display at Taiyuan airport, Taipei. I thought it was a very dainty bottle of wine, but no, and yes it's water.I didn't know water can be this chic and expensive!

You can choose from the designs of Jean Paul Gaultier for 999TWD
Christian Lacroix design for 1288TWDEven if I was too much thirsty, I wouldn't buy it and if I bought it, I wouldn't drink the water and just keep the bottle as it is.=p

Dapit-an'?(dapit saan?)

If you love furnitures and home decorations but in a tight budget, this place is for you. You not only get good finds, they are in whole-sale price so definitely is worth your money.

Dapit-saan? It is difficult to find this 'haggle your way to get what you want' place, it is located in Dapitan-Mayon St., Quezon City.Btw, The place is Dapitan Arcade. Check it out then maybe you'll get inspired to decorate your place.

Sonya's Garden

Sonya's Garden earns the worst kept secret of Manila and is found in the inner city of Tagaytay. It is a strange yet familiar place where people feel at home and in paradise.

Check out their breads in the Panaderia. I like their cheese hopia especially if it is freshly baked. Their spanish bread and pinwheel cookies are also a must-try!
Dogs here get really lazy!
This one liked the bread we fed and kept on following us.Deep inside it's screaming: "Please feed me!" despite that very cute puppy look.
And this one reminds me of the new Thai restaurant in our office neighborhood.

revisitng taal

A typical day in Tagaytay is lunch and watch the beautiful scenery of the Taal Volcano. It was a rainy visit and the air is foggy, nevertheless the view still gives a serene atmoshphere. Chill and relax, urbanites head to Tagaytay to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Amore

Found happiness during a visit at a favorite Italian restaurant. While dipping the complimentary bread in the olive oil+ balsamic vinegar mixture, I accidentally formed this!

"Vive bene, spesso l'amore, di risata molto."
(Live well, love much, laugh often)

T2

There is always terrible with the two.

Last year he was the most challenging. He frequently gets mood swings and gets frustrated whenever he doesn't get what he wants. It results to tantrums and wailing, lying on the floor and banging himself. Sometimes it goes to the extent of biting because of too much temper that he cannot express himself. "NO" is an expression or it may be the only word he understands. Don't expect to hear a positive answer because he uses it each time you ask him without a second thought.

He loves to run around a very small space. He loves to swallow his flavored toothpaste. He always eat with toys right in front the table which makes broccoli easy to munch and swallow. He always asks for a second cup of milk and the television is always a pleasure. His red crocs are his favorite.

He hates to take a nap when everybody gets to be awake all the while. He is difficult when he gets the chance to play with the water. He has the tendency to throw out books just for the fun of it and gets a time out and says sorry only after you've forced him to say it and he's cried all his lungs out.

He is the worst I've ever known. The two of us together = T2 (Terrible Two)

It was never long to get used to when he seemed charming especially when he behaved and cooperated.

It was a joy when I finally let him say "YES!" That is with repetition until tounge twisting blurts and attempts to say no again. Then the most heart-warming of all is when he called me out and told me 'I miss you.'

He calls me "Oh-nah."

I call him "Griffin."

Then I thought to myself, it will be a cute name for my kid in the future.

Twist, Lick, Dunk

I'm so giddy that I finally found a Strawberry creme flavored Oreo cookies! The strawberry filling isn't so sweet so it is just the perfect combination with its chocolate cookie. Yum! I found a new love!=)

Tie a yellow ribbon

Today is declared as a national holiday. It is the funeral of our former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino. The powerful woman behind the People Power Revolution who paved the way for the country's democracy and ousting the former dictator Ferdinand Marcos. The country unites in grief with the Aquino family.

In the previous days, everybody was talking about the death of Cory or Tita Cory as what people call her. Everybody seemed to be affected, as if losing their own family member. Some parts of the city made a tribute for her. Some wore yellow shirts, others tied a yellow ribbon in memory of her. She is very loved by the people in her country. How can a woman be not influential when part of her life was fought for the democracy of the country. No one as gentle and softspoken as Cory can be tough for the whole country. She is a symbol of humility and respect.

In her necrological mass, people from politics and religous groups united. She must have this innate ability in her to make war a peaceful one and that is what she fought for during the People's Revolution. She even forgave the Marcos family who killed her husband Benigno Aquino and they visited in Manila Cathedral where her body lied. A heart like Cory cannot be easily forgotten.

I feel that I am also attached to her as my name, 'Corinne' was derived from her. The year I was born was the year after Pres. Cory was put to the seat of presidency. I share my sympathy along with the whole country of her death.

Pres. Cory died peacefully and was very ready leaving her earthly body behind and face her next life. Her death is a reminder to us to fight for what we believe in. Her legacy of democracy which is by the people, for the people, and of the people will be fought for as how it was fought with honesty and purity from the beginning.

Awaken your elektrifying senses

This is my all time favorite broadway. I watched it last year in NYC, and I felt shivers the moment Wendla sang "Mama who Bore Me." It is not the typical broadway show, the story is daring and it portrays teenage discovery in Germany dated 1891. Hurray to Duncan Sheik for the magnificent soundtrack! I never get bored listening to it, it just bring fresh memories of the live performance.

Forgive me for posting some of the cast. I was just too star struck!haha! They are already alumni.

This is the young and innocent Wendla (vendla) portrayed by Alexandra Socha.

Emmily Kinney as Anna. She also alternates as Wendla. The cutie Matt Doyle as Hanschen. A daring character! He had a kissing scene with Ernst (I didnt get to take a pic of him.) He also alternates as Melchior.
Trivia: Matt went out as the BF of Serena's brother in an episode of Gossip Girl.

Gerard Canonico as the mad and confused Moritz. He was very warm to the fans.
My friend and I were waiting for Melchior to come out but he never did!

Must Love Dogs

Dogs are a man's bestfriend.
I was not quite sure with it since I've never had a pet.
Until recently, my encounters with them went well. They are adorable afterall.

This is Paris. She was so sociable and almost everybody loved her. She was so dear until she left and never came back home.
This is Mallow. She was cute when she was still small. She loves to hide in between the shoe racks, and probably it's her chance to secretly nibble on our rubber slippers. We eventually let her go and gave her away when we didn't have enough slippers to wear!

This is Barack, (yes named after the present U.S. President) the dog of my sister's boyfriend. He is very fierce, or just what I think so. Whenever he comes in our house, he keeps on running as if he has ADHD.

The one on the left is Mako and beside her is her sister Lola. Both of them seemed so busy with each other until Mako died of Parvo. It was so sad because it was the eve of Christmas. Until then, Lola became sociable to us. She loves being cuddled.

This is Jexer, the dog of my Grandmother. He is so fluffy and very playful. He longs to go out whenever we go out of my Grandma's house.

Dogs can be a very good friend. They are loyal and will listen to you when you have no one to talk to.

This reminds me of the movie Marley and Me. It made me teary-eyed.

How adorable can a dog like this get?

Hottah!

Q: What is most common with Twilight, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and 17 Again?

If you have seen the three movies, then you can picture it. Edward Cullen wears it when he is with Bella, and goes to school with a new outlook in life. Zac Efron, when he went back to being 17 again and went to his first day in school, and Benjamin Button when he went to see Cate Blanchett as a younger "hottie" Benjamin.

A: The lead men wear leather jackets and sunglasses in a particular scene where they show off their youth.

Probably it was the King of Pop who we"ve always seen in the outfit (though I don't see any sign of youthful "hotness") When you put him on stage to perform. BOOM!

I've seen his concert videos played in the malls and the audience were crying, screaming and even fainted! He is very influential in music and he is a genius in performance. Just imagine ..Thriller and Billie Jean. Most of his music are great hits!

He will truly remain in history.

The leather jacket and sunglasses then was a mark of his youthful hot carreer.

All we need is love

Love is such a broad concept. It can be anything we interpret it with. It can be used to express feelings to another person and an interesting subject matter. It is synchronized with something good: when we love we feel good.

Love is very powerful.

In this artwork, "I Love You" (Social Scultpture) after Joseph Beuys, love is expressed through the universal word. Arabic letters are made into symbols and artfully hanged in the Esplanade Lobby, Singapore.
Arahmaiani's works are often judged as political art as it gives statement to the current issues and crisis in the area.

War arise everywhere; war between countries, war between culture, war between ethnicity.

Love can heal.

So it is an artist like Arahmaiani who is bold to spread the answer to what we all are suffering from.

Are you gibberish?

Along with my interest in dance, I share the same fondness with music.=)

Sigur ros is one of my favorite band. I discovered it through my modern teacher, who choreographed the music "Saeglopur" for our 2007 summer dance workshop recital. The very first time he played the music, I instantly loved it. For my recital thesis, I choreographed an abstract piece for the finale dance,"Hopippolla"(hop in puddles)the title derived from the music.

Sigur ros is an Icelandic band. They use vonlenska, which is the term described used in their lyrics. The band describes it also as "a form of gibberish vocals that fits to the music.”

Well, you won't understand a single word unless you speak gibberish! You'll just have to listen then you'll understand it without explaination.

Agaetis byrjun, one of the most popular song.

Hoppippolla.

Happy listening!

Catchy

A phrase that caught my attention. A statement which suggests to enjoy the arts. Any form of art that is, but it also commands by using the word "go". The letter O is used figuratively with bodies contorted into poses to form the shape. Personally I interpret it as "Go and enjoy dance as your art."

I remember what a teacher in one of my ballet classes said, "What makes an artist different from a dancer is attention to details." I realized from then on to do my very best in the most simple things.

Yes, sometimes everyting seems so monotonous, but there is always a flipside. Like the yin-yang there is always a positive energy in everything negative. An artist sees both sides and can create a beautiful product even in the most ugly material.

SO Go!Interpret this phrase as your own.=)
